There aren’t many surprises. Helter Skelter and Taxman should be pretty fun. I just want to hit some harmonies with my two fellow singers. That should definitely make this game interesting. The career mode goes through the history of the Beatles. There also will be full downloads of albums ready by release. Which brings me to this point: why the hell can’t you just put the albums on the game? If they are going to be available for download at release, you could not just throw them on the game? Why of course not, you have to pay $15 or so to buy an entire album. You are only working with 45 tracks on the disk at release. I’m really starting to get annoyed by these blatant money-making schemes.

Spielberg Wants Some Halo

8 08 2009

The Halo movie that was a big topic two years ago is at a stand still. However, it looks like Steven Spieberg wants to acquire the rights to the film. Whatever it takes to get this film going is fine in my book. If done right, it could be an animal of an action film.

In the mean time, see me on Halo 3 and you can get your face ripped off.

Now: That’s What I Call Guitar Hero! 5

3 08 2009

It is approaching the fall season. That means it is time for our annual dose of Rock Band and Guitar Hero. While I know this set list was released last week, this blog did not exist one week ago. So I am going to weigh in on it. The set list is by all means awesome. You can check it out for yourself here http://hub.guitarhero.com/index_us.html#/News/Article/07_31_2009_1. I feel like I know about 90% of the songs on the thing.

Here is where I have my problem: Activision and Harmonix are going to keep pushing these games out every year. But what makes this years game better than last years? You can have have multiple people playing the same instrument? What a breathtaking addition. (Know your role and play the bass). The game just loses its mystique each time a new one is released. This isn’t a game like Madden where you need a new game every year because line ups change and what not. Why not take your time and make a quality game instead of just adding 60 new songs and a couple lousy features. You don’t need to turn your franchise into the next Saw or Now!.

The set list is still awesome and probably my favorite yet. However, I am going to refrain from buying this game. Activision will still make their millions and I will save 65 dollars.

My Top 5 Anticipated Games of 2009

31 07 2009

I thought I would start this thing off with a top 5 list of games coming out during the second part of 2009. I did not include any music related games because they come out every other month.

5) Batman: Arkham Asylum

If this game is as badass as the book than it belongs higher on the list. If ends up as bad as other superhero games it doesn’t belong here at all.

4) Assassin’s Creed 2

As long as they improved on the redundancy of the last game this should be an awesome game.

3) Madden 2010

I am hesitant to put a sports game on this list. However, Madden is going to be insane with the online franchise that allows interaction from your computer or iPhone.

2) Halo: ODST

This game and my number one choice are going to dominate my Xbox. Halo has the best multiplayer around. However, the campaign modes have been pretty weak in comparison with the first Halo.

1) Modern Warfare 2

This has to be the number one anticipated game. If it comes close to the first Modern Warfare campaign than it will be one of the best of the year. Even though the multiplayer isn’t as good as Halo, it still is a lot of fun.
